Hike up the Ham Rong Mountain, move past the breathtaking Tram Ton passes, and spend time with the Black H’mong people in the Cat Cat village. Also, you can visit some of the most iconic tourist destinations in the country, including the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Temple of Literature, the local markets of Sapa and Phong Tho, and the historical trenches and tunnels on the way from Dien Bien Phu to Hanoi.

That night, set off on a train to Sapa and you'll be lucky enough to doze off in a comfortable, private soft-sleeper cabin. The following day, after arrival in Sapa, climb up the Ham Rong Mountain, catching excellent vistas along the way. You'll get to meet the Black H’mong people, one of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities - in their native Cat Cat village. Upon return to Sapa, browse the goods at the market. On Day 3, witness the dramatic views of the Tram Ton passes as you're driven over to Phong Tho. After you've arrived, visit the marketplace, which is one of the most colorful markets in the country. During the fourth day, you'll be driven for several hours over to Dien Bien Phu. You will explore this area on the fifth day: have a look at historical sites like trenches and tunnels, in addition to rolling hills. That night, take a flight to Hanoi. On the sixth and final day, explore the capital city, including the Temple of Literature and the One Pillar Pagoda. Your trip ends when you're transferred to the airport, where you can grab your flight back home.
Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi - Night Train to Sapa
On your first day, arrive in Hanoi after the international flight that you plan on your own. Once you arrive in Vietnam’s capital, you will be transferred to the hotel. You have some free time to do what you like until it's time to go, around 22: 00. At this time, everyone takes a train to Sapa. Spend the night in a soft-sleeper cabin.Highlight
: Spend some time in Hanoi before sleeping in a comfortable, soft-sleeper train on your way to Sapa.
Day 2: Sapa
The group stops at the Lao Cai Railway station, at around 06: 00 AM. From there, transfer to Sapa directly, where you can check into the Bamboo Sapa Hotel and eat breakfast. After eating, hike up the Ham Rong Mountain; this viewpoint will give you a terrific panorama of Sapa and the area around it. Head back down the mountain, moving along until you arrive at the Cat Cat village, which is located inside a valley. It's in this village that the Black H’mong—one of the ethnic minorities of Vietnam—live. Once you arrive there, you'll get the chance to spend time with the villagers and appreciate their culture. Later in the afternoon, the group leaves Cat Cat and returns to Sapa, where you can purchase goods from the market. You'll sleep in the hotel in Sapa that night. Over the course of this second day, you'll hike about 5 km.
Highlight: Climb up the Ham Rong Mountain on your way to the Cat Cat village, where you'll meet the fascinating Black H’mong people.
Day 3: Sapa - Phong Tho (B, L, D)
After you wake up in the hotel in Sapa, have breakfast. After eating, the group will drive to Phong Tho, which is located in an isolated area. However, please be advised that the roads are bumpy and uneven, which may cause you some discomfort. This being said, there is an advantage: because it's located in such an isolated area, there won't be as many visitors. This will ensure that you have better views to observe from and take pictures of; this area is home to the awesome Tram Ton passes. After arrival in Phong Tho, you can purchase goods from the local market, which is known as being one of the most colorful marketplaces in the whole country. That night, you'll sleep in the Lan Anh 2 Hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
Highlight: Move on through the beautiful, forested Tram Ton passes on your journey to Phong Tho.
Day 4: Phong Tho - Dien Bien Phu (B)
On Day 4, wake up early for a drive to Dien Bien Phu. This drive lasts about 8 hours, but long drive will be compensated by the spectacular views you'll see as you're riding. Specifically, you can see the hill tribe villages, for example. After that, once you've arrived in Dien Bien Phu, you relax and spend the night in the Muong Thanh hotel. Breakfast is included.
Highlight: Witness the lovely landscapes, including the villages that are located on hillsides, on the journey from Phong Tho to Dien Bien Phu.
Day 5: Dien Bien Phu - Hanoi (B)
Following breakfast, the group will visit historical sites, including trenches, tunnels, and a museum. You can also see the hills and the villages that are located on the hill. Then, after lunch, the group will be transferred to the airport. It's here that you will fly to Hanoi. Breakfast is included.
Highlight: Pay a visit to awe-inspiring historical destinations, including trenches, tunnels, and a museum.
Day 6: Hanoi - Departure (B)
The sixth day is the last day. On this day—assuming the group leaves Hanoi that afternoon—everyone will visit various landmarks in the capital city, including the One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, and the Chi Minh Mausoleum. After eating lunch, check out of the hotel and transfer to the airport. From there, you can fly home (on a flight you've scheduled yourself). Breakfast is included.
Notes: The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed on Mondays and Fridays. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and weekends, it's open from 8 AM to 11 PM. His body is in maintenance for 2 months during the year (usually October and November), so the mausoleum is not open then.
Highlight: Visit the iconic tourist destinations in Vietnam’s capital city, including the One Pillar Pagoda and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
